Special focus on financial education as part of Schwab’s long-standing commitment
Continuing an over two decade-long tradition of bringing together employees to volunteer in their local communities, Charles Schwab will again host Schwab Volunteer Week across the country. Taking place April 28-May 9, this year’s event will focus on serving nearly 350 nonprofits across the U.S. through more than 10,000 volunteer opportunities.
Designed to be flexible and accessible, Schwab Volunteer Week offers a variety of in-person, on-site, and virtual volunteer opportunities with partner organizations that align with both company and employee values. Additionally, Schwab’s network of community ambassadors – composed of over 180 employees who are dedicated to championing local needs – helps create projects that resonate with Schwabbies and reflect the diverse causes they care about.
“Schwab Volunteer Week is a cornerstone of the company’s long-standing tradition of giving back, forging strong connections between Schwab employees and the communities where they live and work,” said Chris Wyse, Charles Schwab Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and President and Chair of Charles Schwab Foundation. “Through initiatives like these, Schwab is proud to support meaningful projects that have a lasting impact, empower individuals, drive positive change, and strengthen the communities we serve.”
Charles Schwab Foundation will donate $600,000 to participating nonprofits to help them continue their important work, giving Schwab employees the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of impactful community initiatives throughout the year. Schwab Volunteer Week opportunities range from hands-on projects like assembling care packages for foster children, service members and first responders, to tackling food insecurity, sorting donations and preparing meals. There are also opportunities to contribute to communities near and far through environmental sustainability work, with efforts like park clean-ups and gardening projects, as well as to disaster relief support and youth education.
This year’s Schwab Volunteer Week will feature various financial education projects as part of the company’s ongoing focus on financial literacy:
- Schwab Moneywise workshops to help young people understand the basics of budgeting, saving, and investing to increase their financial confidence.
- Financial education events for teens at Boys & Girls Clubs of America, simulating real-world financial decisions around careers, income, and managing expenses.
- Collaborations with Girl Scouts of the USA, Junior Achievement, SIFMA Foundation and other nonprofits to inspire entrepreneurship, financial capability, and career development, particularly among youth from under-resourced communities.
Schwab’s commitment to community involvement goes far beyond this focused period of service. In 2024, over 12,000 Schwab employees volunteered 157,000 hours to give back to their communities. Further, the company’s philanthropic programs – including paid volunteer time off, volunteer training, and matching charitable donations – are designed to empower Schwabbies to give back year-round.
